Toro played a cross into the box and Dayanna Valverde knocked in a bouncing ball past Mustangs keeper Emma Deery, who sprawled out to try and make the save, to tie the score, 2-2. Behind a door in tapas spot Espoleta, this pizza speakeasy from pie champ Giulio Adriani is firing off clandestine goods like the Monatanara (deep-fried pizza, bro), or a lardo, burrata.
My first GYW shoe was a pair of Red Wing 877. I did a bunch of reading on 'proper sizing' and exchanged my pair of size 9s for a pair of 8.5s as I thought the 9s were too loose. They were not too loose, haha.Over time the 8.5s became uncomfortable and I decided to sell them and wait for a sale on either Iron Rangers or Wolverine 1Ks.After I tried on IRs, I crossed them off the list. Didn't like the general shape of the boot for my all around versatile boot.
I tried these on in store and they said 9s were too large for me after measuring my foot. The 8.5 in the IR seemed like a solid fit but I didn't really want the boot.Small side story on the IR: I recently helped my mother pick out a pair for my father and he ended up being a 9.5D. I tried them on and they fit really well. This really threw me for a loop because in my memory the 8.5s were comfortable and 9s were too big.
I have a much better understanding of shoe fit now and I speculate that the RW employees didn't really know what they were doing and I wasn't educated enough yet to determine the best size for my foot. Or I'm a freak and can somehow squeeze into 3 different sizes.Next enter the 1Ks. Got them price matched from Nordstrom for a decent price of $214 + shipping. Originally went with an 8.5 and a 9 based on the sizing advice I had read online. I fit into both pairs but eventually decided to avoid the mistake of going too small and decided on the 9s. However, the 9s had some small defects in the stitching/finishing so I wanted to exchange them for another roll in the shoe lottery. I lost 2 more rolls.
1 pair had a huge tear on the bottom of the tongue and the other had edge dressing all over the leather. All 4 pairs were returned and my search continued. My budget was also increasing because I was really aching for a pair of nice boots.I tried White's next and they fit like a glove.
My pair in particular did have some QC issues but nothing that would impact the life of the boots so I said fuck it and kept them because it took me over a year to actually get 1 pair of boots. I was really tired of waiting. Been wearing my White's nearly every other day since September and they were definitely worth the wait. Purchased roughly $2k of dressier shoes I wear less than once a year on average.
Shoes like I wear once a year, I've worn once, I've worn about three times, Meermin captoes I've only worn once at a funeral, etc.Outside of workwear, the only nice leather shoes that get any wear are LHS in ravello, Alden x J. Crew Captoes, and some Dimisianos & Miller sandals because I can dress all of them down.Every time I convince myself I'll wear the nice footwear, but given my friends and the places we go, there's never a fitting opportunity to wear them.
